Fire drama in Severin: 200 straw bales in flames-investigations are running!

A spectacular fire put an agricultural business in Severin, in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, on Sunday morning. At 2 a.m. the fire broke out in a straw rental, in which a total of 200 straw bales were stored. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the police, which is investigating suspected arson. The Situation required the use of several voluntary fire brigades from the area, including the weirs from Goldenbow, Crivitz, Domsühl and Zölkow, to name just a few.

A total of almost 60 firefighters were used to fight the flames. Several extinguishing vehicles were also out and about in commuting to water supply at the fire. The farmer himself supported the extinguishing work with a telescopic wheel loader with which he pulled the straw rental apart. The extinguishing work lasted around six hours until the fire was finally under control. The dramatic scenes on site were documented by NDR 1 Radio MV in the regional news.

Unfortunately, this incident is not the only fire that has caused a stir lately. At the Schwerin district court, a 21-year-old is on trial in twelve cases for arson. According to the Agrarheute, the accused set fire, among other things, from which a family was narrowly escaped. These acts are classified as serious arson, and the accused has largely granted his actions. He could expect a youth prison between 2.5 and 3.5 years as soon as the judgment is made at the end of March or early April.

The defendant's motif for the arson gives cause for concern. He explained that he wanted to live the "pressure" and to live out the joy of camaraderie and the missions in the fire brigade. Ironically, he also actively helped to delete the fires that he had laid himself.
