Traffic chaos in the district: Citizens urgently demand improvements!

In the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, the traffic situation is causing a lot of conversation. A recently published survey shows that residents are anything but satisfied with the transport infrastructure. Road traffic and local public transport in particular do not fare well: the ratings are 5.79 and 4.95, respectively Northern Courier reported.

A critical point is the numerous bus stops in rural areas, which are often perceived as unattractive. The newly introduced on-call bus project has received positive feedback, but as the survey results show, there is room for improvement here too. The buses are often fully booked online, even though there are more seats, and passengers find booking complicated - a circumstance that is alleviated by the VLP's dedicated staff, but is still frustrating.

Cycle paths and tourism

The cycle path network also causes mixed feelings. While there is a need for expanded cycle paths in Wittenburg and Neustadt-Glewe, there are positive reviews in popular tourist destinations such as Plau am See and Zarrentin. Tourists are often overwhelmed by booking on-call buses and want more connections to the rail network in order to be able to reach the sights more easily. This is particularly relevant for those living in Banzkow and Plate, who are hoping for better access to Schwerin.

A particular nuisance arises from the closure of the train station in Kirch Jesar, which is met with dissatisfaction among local residents. The communities with high through-traffic, such as Gresse and Wöbbelin, are also at the center of the discussion with their low ratings. There is no reason for them to be happy: Gresse only achieved 3.63 points and Wöbbelin only achieved 3.29 points.

New mobility offers

There are now modern solutions to deal with the challenges of transport organization. One such concept is the on-demand service “Rosi,” which offers flexible, on-demand bus rides. This allows users to independently determine their starting point, destination and time of trip without being tied to fixed timetables. Loud dbregiobus-bayern Electric vehicles are available for this purpose and are used at different times from Monday to Sunday. This could be a good solution for many residents in the district.

However, the survey also shows that many communities still have big steps ahead of them in mobility development. Where the journey for local public transport in Ludwigslust-Parchim ultimately leads remains to be seen. One thing is certain: citizens urgently want change.
