Wittenburg gives the green light for modern sanitary containers at the pond!
In Wittenburg, a charming town in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, exciting changes are coming to sanitation. City officials have given the green light to replace an existing toilet and shower building at the swimming pond that is in need of renovation with a modern sanitary container. This project was initiated by Mayor Christian Greger (CDU) and represents an important step towards modern infrastructure. According to daily news However, building permits and city budget approval must still be obtained before construction can begin.
The total cost of the project is almost 150,000 euros, with around 90 percent financed by European funding from the LEADER program. This funding amounts to 128,343.87 euros, according to the website Leader Schaalsee reported. The new sanitary container will not only help to significantly improve the sanitary conditions on site, but will also be environmentally friendly - it is solar-powered and will be equipped with separate women's and men's toilets and shower facilities.
Significant improvements for the natural swimming pond
The renovation of the sanitary areas is particularly important for the locals, as the current facility is dilapidated and energy inefficient. The planned sanitary container, which will be set up at the natural swimming pond, should not only offer comfort, but also significantly increase the attractiveness of the bathing establishment. In addition, the hot water supply is made possible by solar thermal energy, and the electricity is supplied via a so-called balcony power plant.
Another positive aspect of the project is the compensation for the sealing of the area, which is achieved by expanding the adjacent orchard. This environmentally friendly measure underlines the city's commitment to sustainable development and the preservation of natural habitats.
An integrated development approach
The project is part of the LEADER program, which is characterized by an integrated, community-led approach. The initiative aims to identify and serve local needs while promoting innovative solutions for rural, urban and coastal areas. EU municipal compass emphasizes that such concept-based projects can provide important impetus for local development.
Citizens can look forward to the early implementation of the project, which will not only increase the fun at the swimming pond, but also bring back some quality of life. It shows that Wittenburg has a good feel for future-oriented solutions and has both feet firmly on the ground when it comes to the needs of the population.
