A look at the Feisneck natural lido in Waren shows that there is a need for action. More and more residents are complaining about the poor maintenance of the popular swimming spot. The loss of a footbridge that was dismantled two years ago is particularly painful. The resulting circumstances have led to the natural lido becoming overgrown and hardly attracting any guests. The residents are not only demanding a new footbridge, but also more seating and generally better maintenance of the area. In a site inspection last Thursday evening, the administration promised that the bathing platform would be built this year. A ray of hope for anyone who wants to use the space as a place to relax!
Planned expansions
But that's not all. The city of Waren has big plans for the sustainable development of the natural swimming pool on the Feisneck in the Müritz National Park. In addition to the missing jetty, other facilities such as snack stands and toilet facilities are to be created. At the moment you can only find a toilet and an information board there. The project is made particularly attractive by the idea of creating paved paths, a “representative gate” and a bicycle parking space. Northern Courier highlights that the number of visitors is an average of 120 per day in summer and that there are between 250 and 300 bathers at peak times.
The expansion represents an equally practical improvement for cyclists who cross the beach area. However, there is also resistance to the expansion plans. Gerhard Heclau from the Nature Conservation Association of Germany (Nabu) criticizes the threatened destruction of the western slope, which provides habitat for protected plant species such as the common thrush and Carthusian carnation. However, Mayor Norbert Möller is optimistic and assures that the concerns are unfounded and that they want to intervene carefully in nature.

The planned measures are part of a larger trend that is captivating more and more people: bathing without chemicals. More and more families are looking for natural water options that are free of chlorine and enable an ecological encounter with nature.
