Free ride! Construction work between Malchin and Waren is almost complete
Road construction work in the Mecklenburg Lake District region continues to gain momentum. The state road between Malchin and Waren could soon be passable again as the new asphalt layer is almost complete. According to the district, it has been announced that the road will be reopened from Thursday, June 19th, which will certainly please many motorists. The road between Demzin and Gielow has been renewed in the past few weeks, and the final work is also underway here.
But not everything remains uneventful; From June 23rd, the city exit from Malchin in the direction of Gielow will be closed for around two weeks. The reason for this is the renovation of a culvert at the level of the Walter Block Stadium. The first preparations for this measure will begin on Monday, June 16th. While the road will initially remain passable, disruptions are expected that drivers in the region should not ignore.
Detours and further closures
The construction work has far-reaching consequences for traffic in the area. Diversions are necessary on the B 198, which will lead to a partial closure. There will also be full closures between Wesenberg and Mirow and on the Malchin and Demzin section, which will last from May 12th to June 24th. Diversions are signposted which lead via Granzow, Roggentin and Userin to Neustrelitz. The L 202 has also been completely closed between Demzin and Gielow since May 5th. Here the diversion leads via Stavenhagen, Jürgenstorf and Faulenrost.
The passage through the Malchiner Steintor remains a special feature: This remains closed due to roof work, but is scheduled to be reopened to traffic from June 20th. If you want to get to Malchin from the direction of Gielow, you have options, but the Malchiner Fuhrtsberg on the outskirts of the city will only be accessible in this direction.
It should be noted that the traffic situation in this region is currently a major challenge. Motorists should keep an eye on current developments and consider alternative routes if necessary to avoid possible delays. It remains to be seen how the construction work progresses and whether the targeted schedules can be adhered to. Local authorities and road builders are definitely doing their best to ensure a safe and passable infrastructure.
