Mirow is celebrating: the Blau-Weiß rowing club is 100 years old!

On Saturday, July 20, 2025, the Blau-Weiß Mirow rowing club celebrated an impressive 100th anniversary. Club chairman Michael Kullack did not miss the opportunity to thank the numerous members, the city of Mirow and the supporters for their loyalty and commitment. With brilliant weather, the celebration was a complete success.

Among the guests were high-profile personalities such as Andreas Bluhm, President of the State Sports Association, and Thomas Müller, the designated district administrator. In his speech, Mayor Henry Tesch acknowledged the association's voluntary commitment and expressed his respect to the members for their achievements. Tesch also announced that the rowing club can continue to use the city's grounds and can expect additional support in the future.

A look at the club's history

The Blau-Weiß Mirow e.V. rowing club has an eventful history. Founded with the political change in the GDR, it is the successor to the MSRV, which was registered in 1925. The name “Blau-Weiß” is not only a homage to the club colors, but is also derived from the club symbol, a blue shamrock on a white background. The club's headquarters are at Schillerstrasse 43, with access to Stadtpark 1.

Michael Kullack placed particular emphasis on honoring the founding fathers and supporters who have played an important role in the club's long history. “Without them we wouldn’t be here today,” emphasized Kullack. Mayor Tesch expressed his joy about the developments in the Mirow Palace ensemble and praised the commemorative publication that was published to celebrate.

Celebrations and honors

The anniversary was celebrated with a great celebration that offered a tasty cake buffet, a variety of barbecue offerings and a well-stocked drinks stand. Musical entertainment was provided by the 1848 Mirow men's choir, which created a great atmosphere with singing performances. Two members of the club, Mischa Barthel and Frank Thederan, received the silver badge of honor from the district sports association MSE for their special achievements in sport.

The local community is proud of its rowing club. In his speech, Andreas Bluhm emphasized the importance of sports clubs for the community and congratulated the rowing club on its anniversary. “Sport and community thrive here,” says Bluhm.
