Cyclists collect 4,696 euros for a good cause on the Müritz!
Last Saturday, the picturesque landscape along the Müritz was transformed into a large cycling and charity event. As part of the 18th DRK TWO-RAD TOUR, a total of 296 enthusiastic cyclists came together, including 22 children. In bright sunshine, the participants cycled for a good cause. The oldest, Friederike Diek (85) and Dieter Pinnow (87), impressed everyone by covering the entire route. The event, which has the motto “Cycle together, help together”, culminated in the festive conclusion in the Volksbad Waren (Müritz), where the donation amount of 4,696 euros was announced.
This sum was achieved through the voluntary “kilometer money” of the participants, who were able to make a donation at the start at their own discretion. From these funds, 1,500 euros will go to the Hanse-Tour-Sonnenschein e.V. to support children with cancer and chronically ill children. A further 1,500 euros will be used to help a DRK volunteer to purchase a special vehicle for his daughter Frieda, who suffers from an extremely rare disease. The remaining amount will benefit the DRK's outpatient and inpatient hospice work.
A complete success
The event was not only a great sporting success, but also a sign of community. Around 40 helpers helped ensure that everything ran smoothly. Particular mention should be made of the generous donations from supporters such as the tax law firm Gaede & Lehmann (1,000 euros), the Solmax company (250 euros) and the Adam family from Waren (100 euros). The commitment of everyone involved shows that the ZWEI-RAD-TOUR really “has something going on” – not just for the good cause, but also for the feeling of community.
Compared to previous years, there is a stable trend in participation and donations. In the last tour in 2024, 357 participants took part and almost 6,000 euros were collected. On this occasion, the Hanse-Tour-Sonnenschein e.V. support association was even able to provide 3,000 euros to support the affected children.
No matter how you spin it, the DRK TWO-WHEEL TOUR remains an integral part of the region's calendar. A big thank you to everyone who cycled with us on Saturday or got involved in other ways. We are already looking forward to the next round and to motivating even more people to become active and help together!
