Cyclists collect 4,696 euros for a good cause at the Müritz!

Waren (Müritz), Deutschland - Last Saturday, the picturesque landscape along the Müritz turned into a large bicycle and charity event. As part of the 18th DRK two-wheel tour, a total of 296 enthusiastic cyclists came together, including 22 children. In bright sunshine, the participants cycled for a good cause. The oldest, Friederike Diek (85) and Dieter Pinnow (87), were impressed by all by laying the entire route. The event, which is under the motto "Rading together, helping together", culminated at the festive conclusion in the Volksbad Waren (Müritz), where the donation amount of 4,696 euros was announced.

This sum was achieved by the voluntary “mileage” of the participants, who could pay a donation at the start at their own discretion. From these funds, 1,500 euros go to the Förderverein Hanse-Tour-Sonnenschein e.V. to support cancer and chronically ill children. Another 1,500 euros are used to help a volunteer of the DRK to buy a special vehicle for his daughter Frieda, which suffers from an extremely rare illness. The remaining amount will benefit the outpatient and inpatient hospice work of the DRK.

a full success

The event was not only a great sporting success, but also a sign of the community. Around 40 helpers contributed to the fact that everything went smoothly. One should particularly highlight the generous donations of supporters such as the Gaede & Lehmann tax office (1,000 euros), the company Solmax (250 euros) and the Adam family (100 euros). The commitment of everyone involved shows that on the two-wheel tour really "there is something"-not only for the good cause, but also for the sense of community.

Compared to previous years, a stable trend in participation and donation is shown. 357 participants took part in the last tour in 2024 and almost 6,000 euros were collected. On this occasion, the Hanse-Tour-Sonnenschein e.V.

Anyway, the DRK two-wheel tour remains an integral part of the region's calendar. A big thank you goes to everyone who rushed on Saturday or who have been involved in any other way. We are already looking forward to the next round and to motivate even more people to become active and help together!
