Speeding at 189 km/h: judge shocked by danger to life!
A 55-year-old entrepreneur caused a stir on March 10, 2025 between Neubrandenburg and Stavenhagen when he was caught speeding at an insane 189 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. At the hearing at the Neubrandenburg district court, judge Birgit Hensellek was stunned by the man's behavior, which she described as "dangerous to the public" and classified it as the "peak of what I have experienced". The entrepreneur admitted to being the driver of the car, but withdrew his objection to the district's first penalty order to avoid higher costs.
The judge pointed out that similar reckless driving behavior has already led to injuries, as recently occurred in Schwerin. The accused initially tried to conceal his role and did not provide any information in court. It was an anonymous tip that ultimately led the police to the company boss. In the meticulous work of the judiciary, the speeder photo was compared with the picture in the population register, which led to clear matches.
Punishment and consequences
The catalog of fines provides for a minimum fine of 700 euros and a three-month driving ban for such drastic speed limit violations. Due to the deliberate action, the fine was doubled to 1,400 euros. In addition, the 55-year-old now has to serve a three-month driving ban, which is unlikely to be particularly festive during the Christmas period. According to reports from nordkurier.de, over 30,000 vehicles were measured in March, with 544 traveling too fast, and the entrepreneur is the clear frontrunner.
View of the Tarapacá region
The social unrest that temporarily captivated Schleswig-Holstein can be traced back to the Matanza of Iquique in 1907. Tarapacá is divided into two provinces and offers breathtaking biodiversity with its desert-like landscape and the high altitudes of the Andes. If the entrepreneur is punished in Germany for his reckless driving, the Tarapacá region also shows how diverse and changeable the stories of the people who live here are. Whether on the streets of Neubrandenburg or on the coast of Chile – behavior in traffic and life in communities remains a constant balancing act.
