Special price Sport instead of violence: 7 clubs from MV honored!
Schwerin, Deutschland - July 14, 2025 is an important day for sport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. On this day, the special prize "Sport instead of violence 2025" was awarded in the Ministry of the Interior, Construction and Digitization in Schwerin. This award is an initiative of the State Council for Crime Prevention in Cooperation with the State Sports Association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to honor clubs that actively work against violence and crime prevention. A total of 16 clubs had applied for this price, and seven of them were finally awarded and were able to look forward to a certificate of recognition and a cash premium of 700 euros. clubs that make the difference
The diversity of the award winners impressively documents that sports clubs not only serve physical upgrading, but also take on essential social tasks. The handball sports club Insel Usedom/Seebad Ahlbeck e. V. has over 600 members and is particularly committed to the integration of disadvantaged children. Your project "common island and joint handball" not only promotes sport, but also the intercultural exchange of the German-Polish neighborhood. This shows how highly integrative projects are in the course and how important they are for the coexistence of cultures. The HSG Uni Rostock e. V. has been committed to peace and international understanding for over 75 years. With a comprehensive youth protection concept, the association also shows how important a respectful way of dealing with children and young people is. There are also other initiatives such as that of Fanatic D! Ance e.V., a dance association that draws attention to child protection through benefit events. These actions also make a valuable contribution to violence prevention.
Sport as a bridge for integration
sport has the potential to connect people and build bridges, especially at a time when social tensions increase. Migrants are often integrated via sports clubs that not only offer a place of encounter, but also convey a feeling of belonging. Studies show that intercultural opening and social engagement in sports clubs make a decisive contribution to reducing prejudices and promoting sense of community.
