Neubrandenburg's new OB Nico Klose: fresh wind to scandal!
Neubrandenburg, Deutschland - On July 18, 2025, Nico Klose, the new mayor of Neubrandenburg, officially begins his term. Klose, who is independent, clearly prevailed in the runoff in May: with 64.95 % of the votes, he left his competitor Frank Benischke from the CDU, which came to 35.05 %. In his inauguration in the city, which was accompanied by around 300 citizens in the House of Culture and Education, Klose took off his oath and emphasized how important attitude, responsibility and strong coexistence are in politics. These topics are particularly relevant after his predecessor Silvio Witt left his office early after a conflict about rainbow flags.
In October 2024,WITT continued the baton to Klose after nine years as mayor to protect himself and his family. The pressure that was on Witt was increasingly unbearable for him, which ultimately led to his decision prematurely. Witt had repeatedly caused a conversation during his term.
choice and support
The support of Klose in the election campaign came from various political pages, including the SPD, the Greens and of course from its predecessor Witt. Interestingly, the election examination board rejected an objection to the election, which confirmed Klose that the will of the citizens was clear. With his term, which runs until May 31, 2025, he wants to bring a fresh air to the city.
In a high -speed questionnaire of the Nordkurier, at the Klose, commented on personal, local and political issues, he proved that he is not only a good speaker, but also a quick thinker. In this format, which aims to obtain spontaneous and genuine answers, the new mayor was able to show that he is prepared for the challenges of the city.
Current developments in Neubrandenburg
While the city was preparing for a new course under Klose, there are also other exciting news. In Greifswald, Toni Kroos is awarded the regional office of earnings, which is concerned with the anticipation of football fans in the region. In addition, a traffic event in the direction of Hamburg was in the news in which a driver lost control of his tractorizer and rescue work was necessary. On all of these topics, however, Neubrandenburg remains at the top of the political discussions with Klose.
It remains to be seen how Klose will tackle the challenges that go hand in hand with his new office. However, one thing is certain: the controversy about rainbow flags and the need for an open and constructive political discussion are topics that will no longer be able to be circumvented under his leadership.
