Demolition of the Wendorf daycare center: Wismar plans sustainable new building!

In Wismar, an old daycare center is currently being demolished to make room for a modern new building. The demolition of the "Seebad Wendorf" daycare center, which has been in operation since 1968, began in July 2023. Pollutants were already found in the building in 2016, but there was never a health risk. The Perspective Wismar ggmbh plans to build a new modern daycare center on the property that is supposed to meet the needs of today's children.

In addition, the “Stadtspatzen” daycare center is celebrated in the city, which was opened in 2019. The building impresses with an ecological wooden frame construction with a total area of 2,533 m² and is designed in L-shape with three floors. The architects Cindy Kruske and Christian Meißner from Freiort Architects not only paid attention to sustainability when building, but also to flexible uses that meet the needs of a modern pedagogical institution. The project was supported by the Lernwert ggmbh as well as from Hochbau Krentz and Müller as an investor.

Special attention was paid to the insulation. The “Stadtspatzen” daycare center relies on forward -looking blow -in insulation with mineral wool. This construction ensures high sound and fire protection and met the strict requirements for energy efficiency. The fire brigade and emergency services were called and two students had to be treated medically. On the A14 motorway, a section was fully blocked due to heat damage. Asphalt deformations require immediate repair, which leads to considerable traffic disruptions. Above all, the route between the Schwerin motorway junction and the Schwerin-Nord junction remains closed until July 5th.
