Bakers are setting an example: Campaign bags against violence start on November 25th!

It is an initiative that brings movement into play and addresses a very important topic: an action week against violence against women and children will take place from November 24th to 29th, 2025, organized by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Guild Association of the Bakery and Confectionery Trade. Under the motto “We don't get into violence,” specially designed campaign bags are being offered in bakeries during this time, which are not only filled with fresh bread and rolls, but also spread an important message. These bags bear the slogan and the number of the helpline “Violence against Women” (08000 116 016) to make those affected aware of options for help, because the first step to help begins in everyday life.

The action week will be ceremoniously opened in Wismar on November 25th. At 2:00 p.m. there will be a symbolic distribution of the first bags, accompanied by a press conference. In addition to the Minister for Equal Opportunities, Jacqueline Bernhardt, and the State Commissioner for Women and Equality, Wenke Brüdgam, representatives of the bakery trade such as State Guild Master Matthias Grenzer will also be present. The campaign invites the district of Northwest Mecklenburg to take a strong stand against domestic violence.

Tackle an important topic

The aim of the action week is to inform and raise awareness of an often hidden topic. For many people, violence in the family is a taboo that is not addressed. This initiative shows that the bakery trade is not just an ordinary craft, but also assumes social responsibility. Solidarity and moral courage should be promoted, and access to help will be made lower-threshold by distributing these bags in bakeries.

If you have questions about support options, you will find counseling services for women and girls affected by violence in every federal state. The facilities offer both personal and telephone counseling and are available for a wide variety of forms of violence, be it physical or psychological violence. Great importance is attached to ensuring that advice is offered anonymously and in different languages to ensure support is accessible to everyone, as the Women Against Violence website notes.

Support and help available

The offers of help range from one-off advice to long-term support and group offers. This not only helps those affected, but also gives relatives and friends the opportunity to learn more about support and to support their loved ones. The advice centers also advocate for political and social changes in order to improve the situation of those affected.

The bakery's initiative is an excellent example of how companies can become active in their community. It is a call to everyone: violence is not an option, and together we can find solutions and offer help!
