Spooky festivals and exciting tournaments: A Halloween weekend in the north!

This coming Friday, October 31st, the region will begin the merrymaking of Halloween, attracting those who enjoy spooky and festive activities. This tradition, which essentially goes back to the Irish festival of Samhain, will also be celebrated lively this year. In the US, Halloween, also known as All Hallows' Eve, is predicted to generate a massive $12 billion in sales, showing how popular the celebration has become worldwide. There are also a variety of events in our hometown of Cologne that are perfect for young and old. The Ostsee-Zeitung informs about the eerily beautiful Halloween party at the Lottihof in Seefeld, which is taking place at 2 p.m. starts.

Here, children can let their creativity run wild and paint animals such as donkeys and ponies with Halloween outfits, provided the weather cooperates. The Witches' Forest is also open and offers exciting stories about the mysterious topic of witches. Your physical well-being is taken care of: crepes, fries and a cake bazaar await visitors. Admission is free, rubber boots shouldn't hurt either!

Sporty highlights and pumpkins

At the same time, the autumn jumping tournament will take place in the Hohen Wieschendorf riding facility, which is scheduled from Friday, October 31st to Sunday, November 2nd. An impressive 232 riders have registered here and a total of 28 hours of competition are planned. A sporting highlight will be the 135-centimeter jumping, where entry is also free.

For everyone who likes something a little more contemplative, the pumpkin festival in the rose garden in Dassow on October 31st from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. invites you to an entertaining afternoon. This festival is organized by the local club and offers lots of fun and games as well as delicious food and drinks.

Additional events in November

On Saturday, November 1st, at the early bloomer planting campaign in Klütz at 10 a.m., people are invited to distribute flower bulbs in the Lidl parking lot on Boltenhagener Straße. Participants should bring spades or small shovels so that the flowers can bloom next spring.

Another highlight of the weekend is the 60th poultry exhibition of the “Klützer Winkel” breed poultry breeding association on November 1st and 2nd. Here around 40 breeders show more than 500 animals of different breeds. Even if no poultry is sold, visitors can get in touch with the breeders and learn more about the animals. A special highlight will be the raffle with over 500 prizes. Admission is three euros for adults and one euro for children.

At the end of the celebrations, lantern holders young and old can look forward to a lantern parade in Wismar on Sunday, November 2nd. From 3 p.m. you can make lanterns and carve pumpkins before the parade with music moves through the lime garden and the pedestrian zone at 4:30 p.m. After the parade there will be warm cocoa and cookies in the “Treff im Lindengarten” (TiL) as well as a fire bowl on the terrace if the weather cooperates.

Overall, an exciting and varied weekend awaits the region's residents and visitors - Halloween is just around the corner and there is a lot to discover. Whether scary stories or happy celebrations, there is something for everyone. Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the colorful and spooky traditions of Halloween!
