Young workers in northwest Mecklenburg: Reporting sick if you have a cold!

A new health trend is spreading among young employees in northwest Mecklenburg. A current DAK survey shows that 54 percent of people under 35 are more careful with infections than they were five years ago. This change in health behavior is a direct result of the corona pandemic, which has inspired many to rethink.

There is also a notable trend in sickness reports. Around a quarter of young employees are more likely to take sick leave if they have cold symptoms such as a cough or runny nose. This is indeed a significant indication that awareness of health and disease prevention has increased. According to the DAK study, 83 percent of people under 30 consciously call in sick so as not to make an illness worse - an increase compared to 2015, when it was only 75 percent.

Decreasing sickness rates

The DAK study also shows that sick leave fell from 6.9 to 6.4 percent in northwest Mecklenburg in the first half of 2025. This is below the national average of 6.5 percent. On average, employees were on sick leave for around twelve days from January to June. Overall, the region recorded 1,156 lost days per 100 insured people, which corresponds to a decrease of 8.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The fact that the younger generation is increasingly committed to a healthy working environment is a positive turning point.

However, respiratory diseases are still the main cause of days missed, with 261 days missed per 100 insured people. Illnesses of the musculoskeletal system also lead to 198 days of absence, while mental illnesses account for 170 days of absence. These statistics illustrate how important it is to focus on the health of employees and their needs.

Of fashion and lifestyle

The offerings include down jackets for the cold months, wool jackets for timeless elegance and functional jackets for weather protection. Over the years, under the leadership of Bent Junge, who originally started out as a uniform tailor in Aarhus, the company has created popular classics that meet the needs of today.

New possibilities in purchasing

Nowadays, special offers like those from JCPenney are not neglected. Anyone who opens a new credit card account can benefit from attractive discounts. This promotion applies to purchases between $35 and $499.99, where a $35 discount applies, or purchases over $500, where a $125 discount applies. Such offers show that it is also important for fashion-conscious buyers to keep an eye on their wallet.

In summary, it can be said that not only is there a rethinking of health and illness in northwest Mecklenburg, but the fashion industry is also contributing to the quality of life of its customers with innovative collections and offers. The DAK study, Junge's company history and the shopping opportunities at JCPenney illustrate how diverse and dynamic the current living environment is.
