Young Wismarer completes Minecraft cruise ship after 8 years!

In an impressive project, 21-year-old Tim Wendlandt from Wismar from Wismar worked for an exceptional replica of the AIDABLU cruise ship in Minecraft for eight years. The construction of the virtual ship comprises a proud 630,000 blocks and inspires not only gamers, but also cruise fans. Tim, who discovered his passion for these magnificent ships at the tender age of seven, started replicating when he was 13 years old. He found inspiration, especially in his first cruise in 2014, which provided him with valuable impressions for his ambitious project. He never had to fall back on the AIDABLU himself, because he had already visited a similar ship.

Every detail counts

The effort that Tim put in his project is enormous. Each of the more than 1000 cabins, the numerous restaurants and the characteristic elements such as the AIDA kiss mouth were recreated in detail. The creation of the kissing mouth alone took a week. In order to be able to work authentically, the young designer used internet pictures, YouTube videos and exact cover plans as references. There were stuck breaks at hard work, but Tim was never discouraged, and in the summer of 2023 the entire ship was completed. As soon as that was done, he was already devoting himself to the construction of the Aidanova, the currently largest ship of the fleet, which is half completed.

aidablu: A technical masterpiece

AIDABLU itself is a remarkable cruise ship from Aida Cruises, which was manufactured in several units between 2010 and 2013. With a length of 253 meters and a width of 32 meters, it is part of the modified Sphinx class, which also includes sister ships such as Aidastella and Aidamar. The Meyer shipyard, which is responsible for the construction, has placed particular emphasis on energy efficiency. Innovative techniques, such as flow -optimized propeller and a low -friction underwater painting, contribute to reducing fuel consumption.

Another highlight on board is the theatrium - a glass funnel that forms the heart of the ship. This impressive structure extends over the entire ship width and serves as a central venue. Aidablu is also proud to accommodate the world's first floating brewery, the water of which comes from an innovative seawater relaxation system.
