In Gadebusch, the annual coin festival 2025 began with a celebratory opening on Friday evening. Mayor Arne Schlien welcomed numerous guests and at the same time celebrated the city's 800th anniversary. The opening ceremony of the 29th Coin Festival was attended by prominent personalities such as Gilles Desroches and Jacek Klimaszewski, who kicked off the celebrations together with Lars Ryll, Oliver Mesch, Michael Karlsson and Arne Schlien. A special highlight of the start was the spectacular fireworks display at Lake Burgsee, which captivated the visitors and crowned the evening with a brilliant conclusion Northern Courier reported.
The coin festival, which has been celebrated on the first weekend in July since 1995, lasts until Sunday, July 6th. During these three days, visitors are offered a colorful mix of dancing, singing and culinary delicacies. Numerous artists perform on the festival stage at the market, and in addition to the traditional parade, there are also various attractions such as children's carousels, lottery booths and market activities. The city is also expecting guests from partner municipalities, including Trittau in Schleswig-Holstein, St. Germain du Puy in France, Czarnkow in Poland and Åmål in Sweden.

- 12 Uhr: Proklamation der besten Schützen der Gadebuscher Schützenzunft von 1583.
- 12 bis 18 Uhr: Münzprägung des Godetalers am Markt.
- 17 Uhr: Zaubershow mit Christian Brandes.
- 19 bis 23 Uhr: Auftritt der Showband Right Now.
- Sonntag, 6. Juli:
- 10 Uhr: Festgottesdienst.
- 11 Uhr: Frühschoppen mit dem Blasorchester.
- 12 bis 17 Uhr: Erneute Münzprägung am Markt.
- 13 Uhr: Auftritt der Tanzgruppe des Kinder- und Jugendtreffs „FreiRaum“.
The streets around the festival will be closed for the duration of the celebrations. From July 4th, parking bans and parking closures will apply, especially on Amtstrasse and Mühlenstrasse.
