A major blow to security in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: On November 11, 2025, the police launched a massive operation against a national burglar gang. Around 130 officers from the Rostock Criminal Investigation Department, the State Criminal Police Office and the riot police were involved in arresting the criminals. Searches took place in the Rostock and Northwest Mecklenburg districts. The officers were able to temporarily arrest four men between the ages of 38 and 44 for whom arrest warrants had already been issued.
The allegations are serious: The group is said to have broken into numerous hotels, companies and shops since June 2025, with safe thefts in particular being discussed. A particularly brazen break-in took place on the night of August 11th at a car dealership in Bützow, followed by another incident on September 13th at a gas station in Kühlungsborn, in which an ATM was broken into with a wheel loader.
Investigations and arrests
The suspects were arrested red-handed when they broke into a food market in Banzkow. Thanks to an investigative team that was set up at the beginning of October, the officers managed to track down the series of burglaries. Evidence was seized and is now being evaluated to identify further crimes and possible accomplices.
After their arrest, the men involved were brought before the magistrate, who confirmed the arrest warrants. They were then transferred to a correctional facility.
