Repair Café in Boizenburg: Sustainability lives in the community!

In the heart of Boizenburg, the Repair Café is flourishing, which not only functions as a repair workshop, but has also become a real meeting place for community and sustainability. Again Northern Courier reports, seven events have already been established in which numerous everyday objects such as bicycles and toy dogs have been brought back to life. The project was launched about two and a half years ago by a group of passionate people and has developed greatly since then.

At the heart of the Repair Café is the pastor of the Boizenburg Protestant parish, Daniel Havemann. He actively supports this project because the aim of the café is to bring people from different backgrounds together and to promote exchange. The city of Boizenburg has now officially added the Repair Café to its events calendar, which shows how important this project is for the local community.

Next steps in the repair café

In the coming months, the Repair Café will be taking a well-deserved summer break, but the next date is just around the corner: On September 13th, everyone interested is invited to meet together again and take part in the repairs. A digital café is also being planned, which will specifically help older people learn how to use their smartphones. This shows that the café not only has the environment in mind, but also wants to combat social loneliness.

The commitment to connecting people with each other is further strengthened by the close cooperation with the climate office and the support from the partner city of Lauenburg. It becomes clear here that the Repair Café functions not just as a workshop, but as a place for encounters and mutual support.
