Sweden Festival in Wismar: Sporting highlights await participants!

From August 14th to 17th, 2025, the Sweden Festival will be celebrated in Wismar, an event that not only focuses on the 155 years of membership in the Kingdom of Sweden, but also offers a real celebration of sportsmanship and community. More than 630 participants have already registered for the Swedish Run, and the organizers are doing everything they can to increase the number of recreational runners to over 1,000. The Sweden Run is a highlight of the festival. The varied distances are suitable for all age groups. The 1.1 kilometer children's run starts on August 15th at 9:45 a.m., while the larger runs - with distances of 5.3 and 10.2 kilometers - start at 10:00 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. Participants can look forward to a circuit that leads through the historic old town and ends in the Kurt Bürger Stadium. Sports activities and more

The Kubb tournament will be held on August 16th, starting at 10 a.m. Here, teams with up to four players can hope for an exciting mix of skill and tactics. Registration is easy online and participation is free, but places are limited to 16 teams. At 11 a.m. there will also be show games between city representatives and guests from the Swedish sister city of Kalmar. For all sailing enthusiasts, the traditional Schwedenkopf regatta starts at 10 a.m. in Wismar Bay on the same day.

The Sweden Festival is also opting for a broader cultural program this year. Swedish troops, such as the Carolinians, will set up camp and perform historical battle scenes. The entire area will be decorated in the Swedish national colors and there will be a diverse range of dining options, ranging from köttbullar to hot dog wraps to Swedish beer. The organizers are expecting numerous artists and bands, such as the “Järfälla Musikkår” and the “Gislaved Drums Corps”, who will provide musical entertainment.

The program is supplemented by numerous offers for children and families. A new “Mötesplats”, organized by the “Kanonbra” association, invites you to linger, and the historic parade on the Schwedenweg creates a special atmosphere.
