Clubs in northwest Mecklenburg: 16,000 euros for creative projects!
The club landscape is flourishing in northwest Mecklenburg - thanks to generous funding totaling 16,000 euros. These financial resources come from the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Nordwest Foundation and support local initiatives and projects in the region. Kay Facklam, Chair of the Foundation, highlights the important role of this support and its positive impact on the community. Since 2010, an impressive 504 projects have been funded with over 4.7 million euros, which shows once again that something is clearly happening.
The projects funded include exciting projects that promote culture, education and social tasks. For example, a publication on the history of the Rehna Monastery is being created in the city of Rehna. With the GeoDome at the ecological school site in Wismar, an innovative educational space is being created, and the water nature trail in Wotenitz is being upgraded with new teaching posts. The Wismar Old Town youth fire department also benefits from a new team tent. All in all, this is really good business for the region!
Where commitment meets support
In his statements, the district administrator of northwest Mecklenburg, Tino Schomann, emphasizes the immense commitment of the volunteers, without whom many of these projects would not be possible. The funding not only strengthens existing initiatives, but also motivates new ideas. Anyone who would like to launch an innovative project themselves can submit funding applications until February 28, 2026 and thus participate in this positive trend.
The supported projects include:
- Stadt Rehna – Publikation zur Geschichte des Klosters Rehna
- Protinus Projektentwicklung gGmbH – GeoDome am Ökologischen Schulort Wismar
- Verein zur Förderung des sorgsamen Umgangs mit der Ressource Wasser – Lehrpfähle für den Wasserlehrpfad in Wotenitz
- RAA – Demokratie und Bildung M-V e.V. – Bildungsprojekt „Ein Quadratkilometer Bildung“ in Wismar-Wendorf
- Feuerwehrförderverein Wismar Altstadt – Neues Mannschaftszelt für die Jugendfeuerwehr
- Christlicher Hilfsverein Wismar – Weihnachtspäckchenaktion für Kinder in Albanien
- Förderkreis Schloss Plüschow – Internationales Stipendienprogramm des Künstlerhauses
But something is not only happening in the funding of projects. There is also news in the world of tenants and tenancies. The OPAL Connect app delights tenants with a variety of useful functions. Available for iOS and Android, it allows, for example, direct contact with the local agency, easy online payment of rent and access to all relevant documents. The app also offers helpful information and quick help if you have any questions or problems.
To create a tenant account, users only need their rental agreement or a payment request. The app is a real all-rounder and supports everyone who wants to manage their rent in a simple and convenient way. Whether it's an update of personal data or viewing invoices - everything is done easily here.
Whether in club work or in everyday rental life, there is a lot going on in the region. Networking and supporting locally committed people is crucial for a strong and vibrant community life. Northwest Mecklenburg is on a promising path, and we can look forward to seeing which projects and ideas will be supported in the future.
