Wismar PSV renovates clubhouse: new rooms for sport and community!

In the heart of Wismar, the club life of the Police Sports Club (PSV) is flourishing. The clubhouse in the HW-Leasing Stadium is currently being renovated, a measure that is not only of great importance for the 660 members, but also benefits the entire community. As the Baltic Sea newspaper reported, the first steps have already been taken: the entrance door and some windows have been removed, and the renovation will be completed by the beginning of 2026.

Plans for the renovation include a number of improvements: new layouts, fresh paint, new floors and a larger multi-purpose room for team nights and gatherings. The second chairman Thomas Frahm underlines the added value of the new room, which will also be used for smaller sports groups and the darts department in the future. The low-rise building will also house a functional wing for referees and trainers as well as the office.

Funding and support

The renovation work is being financed from numerous sources. Thanks to the Christmas campaign “Helping Brings Joy” over 7,000 euros were collected for the project. PSV had originally budgeted 100,000 euros in equity, but due to increased construction costs, the costs rose to 900,000 euros. Funding is also being provided by the federal government, the Hanseatic City of Wismar and other partners for the entire sports facility modernization, which amounts to 3.7 million euros.

The improvement of the sports facilities not only includes the renovation of the clubhouse, but also the installation of modern photovoltaic systems. PSV's plans include, among other things, the construction of new changing rooms and the renewal of the artificial turf pitch and running track. Mayor Thomas Beyer has announced that a total of almost 40 million euros will be invested in four large sports projects in Wismar, which underlines the importance of the sports facilities for the city.

The goal: a stadium of the future

But that's just the beginning: PSV has ambitious plans that will be implemented in four phases. The PSV website describes how the overall project should be realized specifically. Extensive new construction and renovation measures are planned, which will not only create state-of-the-art sports facilities, but also include energy-efficient solutions such as an air heat pump and better insulation.

The search for funding and sponsors is essential. Various programs, such as the municipal guidelines for the “renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture”, offer support for such projects. Regional sponsors and new financing methods such as crowdfunding could also contribute to the realization Sports facility calculator shows.

Overall, the police sports club's restructuring plans contain a wealth of potential for sporting development in Wismar. With commitment and support from the community, PSV will soon have a modern, inviting clubhouse that will create daily meetings and events.
