Wolfgang Heinze: Entrepreneurs of the year honored at Thanksgiving!
On October 5, 2025, a festive annual reception of the districts of Northwestmecklenburg took place in the picturesque Niendorfer Gutsscheune, which was connected to the traditional state harvest festival. On this occasion, the successful entrepreneur Wolfgang Heinze was awarded an entrepreneur in 2025. The managing director of “AQVIDA GmbH”, which is based both in Dassow and in Hamburg and specializes in the development of oncology products, was honored among the 300 guests present. His work has made a significant contribution to the healthcare industry and shows how entrepreneurs can contribute to improving our lives with foresight and commitment. NDR reports that the honor was a highlight of the event.
But not only Heinze was able to look forward to awards - other services were also recognized. A total of five badges of honor were awarded, including a posthumously to Andreas Spiewack, the former mayor of Utecht. Further honors went to Elke Rohlfs for their commitment to the association “Low German Stage Wismar e.V.”, Jens Herrschaft for 23 years in the sports club TSV Gägelow, Hans-Jürgen Pagels for 35 years management of the painting guild Nordwestmecklenburg-Wismar and to Katrin Sültmann, who helps the association “Wismar helps e.v.” guides.
Environmental prize for volunteering
Another highlight of the event was the awarding of the district's environmental award in two categories. The “Kitzrettung” initiative, which comes from Lüdersdorf, received the award in the adult category. This group protects fawn from injuries during the meadow mowing, and volunteers invested an impressive 300 hours in their projects last year. Four drones with thermal imaging cameras are now in use, and the group of ten drone pilots and 25 helpers are passionate about the protection of nature. Heiko Funk accepted the price while Daniel Bohl praised his commitment. You can find more information on the website Nordkurier.
The “Children's and Youth Parliament Wismar” was awarded in the children and adolescents category. The young activists developed an impressive project: portable pocket waste buckets against pollution. With a prize money of 1000 euros, your initiative will continue to be funded, which not only contributes to cleanliness in the region, but also raises awareness of environmental protection in the next generation.
The importance of environmental prices
Environmental prices, such as those awarded in Northwest Mecklenburg, are important incentives for citizens and organizations to actively work for the protection of nature. In Germany and worldwide there are numerous awards that award innovative ideas and sustainable projects, such as the Goldman Environmental Prize or the Champions of Earth Award, appreciate the extraordinary commitment to environmental protection. Such prices are not only an award, but also an incentive for others, to work for a better environment.
The annual reception on October 5th proved once again that there is a strong sense of community in northwest Mecklenburg, characterized by commitment and responsibility towards people and nature. It remains to be hoped that many such initiatives will continue to emerge and find supporters in order to shape a sustainable future.
