Wolfgang Heinze: Entrepreneur of the Year honored at Thanksgiving celebration!
On October 5, 2025, a festive annual reception of the districts of Northwest Mecklenburg took place in the picturesque Niendorfer Gutsscheune, which was connected to the traditional state harvest festival. On this occasion, the successful entrepreneur Wolfgang Heinze was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year 2025. The managing director of “AqVida GmbH”, which is based in Dassow and Hamburg and specializes in the development of oncology products, was honored among the 300 guests in attendance. His work has made a significant contribution to the healthcare industry and shows how entrepreneurs with vision and commitment can help improve our lives. NDR reports that the honor was a highlight of the event.
But it wasn't just Heinze who was able to celebrate awards - other achievements were also recognized. A total of five badges of honor were awarded, including one posthumously to Andreas Spiewack, the former mayor of Utecht. Further honors went to Elke Rohlfs for her commitment to the association “Niederdeutsche Bühne Wismar e.V.”, Jens Rule for 23 years in the sports club TSV Gägelow, Hans-Jürgen Pagels for 35 years as head of the Northwest Mecklenburg-Wismar painting guild and to Katrin Sültmann, who founded the association “Wismar Hilfe e.V.” directs.
Environmental award for volunteer work
Another highlight of the event was the awarding of the district's environmental prize in two categories. The “Kitzrettung” initiative, which comes from Lüdersdorf, received the award in the adult category. This group protects fawns from injury during meadow mowing, and volunteers have invested an impressive 300 hours in their projects over the last year. Four drones with thermal imaging cameras are now in use, and the group of ten drone pilots and 25 helpers are passionate about protecting nature. Heiko Funk accepted the award, while Daniel Bohl praised his commitment. Further information can be found on the website Northern Courier.
In the children and young people category, the “Children and Youth Parliament Wismar” was honored. The young activists developed an impressive project: portable pocket trash cans to combat pollution. Their initiative will be further supported with prize money of 1,000 euros, which not only contributes to cleanliness in the region, but also raises awareness of environmental protection in the next generation.
The importance of environmental prices
Environmental awards, such as those awarded in Northwest Mecklenburg, are important incentives for citizens and organizations to actively work to protect nature. There are numerous awards in Germany and around the world that honor innovative ideas and sustainable projects, such as the Goldman Environmental Prize or that Champions of Earth Award, which honor exceptional commitment to environmental protection. Such awards are not only an honor, but also an incentive for others to work for a better environment.
The annual reception on October 5th proved once again that there is a strong sense of community in northwest Mecklenburg, characterized by commitment and responsibility towards people and nature. It remains to be hoped that many such initiatives will continue to emerge and find supporters in order to shape a sustainable future.
