Horse fever in Ganschow: Thousands flock to spectacular mare parades!
The region is expecting a very special rush in Ganschow near Güstrow: The 26th mare parade opens its gates today and on the next two Saturdays, July 13th and 19th. Thousands of visitors have already registered to experience the event, which will take place between 1 and 5 p.m. The morning is spent building up anticipation in the stud farm, which will make visitors' hearts beat faster with varied horse shows. The impressive performances revolve around topics such as horse breeding, equestrian sports and a rousing show program. In 2025, the stud farm, which was founded in 1969 and privatized in 1995, will once again be the venue for extraordinary horse moments...
A heart of horse breeding
With around 300 horses in the program, the mare parade is a real highlight for horse lovers. The special features of the event include not only the classic performances. Smaller mini horses, for example, demonstrate their use in the therapy of people with disabilities. In addition, 20 displays are planned, and a very special highlight is the largest two-horse quadrille with 32 harnessed horses. The glittering finale is then formed by a herd of 80 horses galloping majestically across the parade ground to freedom.
The Redefin State Stud offers another small world of horses. With over 200 years of tradition, it is an integral part of Mecklenburg horse breeding and attracts many interested parties not only for its stallion parades, but also for its diverse training and learning programs. The stud farm is home to around 140 horses on an area of around 70 hectares. Here you can take part in guided tours of the stables and find out about the long history and breeding methods.
Variety of events
The Redefin State Stud also knows how to entertain its visitors: tournament sports take place in spring, while classical concerts in the summer provide musical variety. The children's area also makes the little ones' faces smile, where carousels and pony rides are on the program. And those who are interested in training with horses can benefit from individual and group lessons in dressage and jumping as well as take part in holiday courses.
After visiting the mare parade or the stallion parades in Redefin, visitors can also discover the local gastronomy with its delicacies. Whether in one of the guesthouses or in an inn, the region has something to offer for everyone. If you would like to learn a little more about your own horse breeding, you will find a wide range of courses at the state stud, ranging from breaking horses to carriage rides.
