Bitter wind power bankruptcy: Eno Energy from Rostock is insolvent!
The insolvency of Eno Energy GmbH from Rostock is causing a stir in the industry. On October 7, 2025, the Rostock District Court confirmed the insolvency application of the company, which, with around 288 employees, is now an important player in the field of renewable energies. Eno Energy is best known for developing and building wind farms, which are then sold to investors. The company was able to save a total of around 3.3 million tons of CO₂ with its systems. But now the signs point to a storm.
What led to this dramatic turnaround? Eno Energy cites three key reasons for its difficulties: Firstly, the high expenses incurred by numerous approved wind farm projects. Secondly, an excessive supply of wind farm projects has caused demand to fall. Thirdly, the termination of an essential supply contract for rotor blades, which are needed for the certification of the systems, created additional pressure.
The future of Eno Energy
Despite the bankruptcy, the management is optimistic and plans to partially continue operations. The focus is primarily on the service area in order to be able to continue to actively participate in the market. Eno Energy was founded in 1999 and not only has locations in Rostock and Rerik, but also subsidiaries in Sweden and France.
However, the challenges facing Eno Energy have a broader dimension. Cybercrime has increased in recent years, putting pressure not only on the wind power industry but also on solar energy systems. Hackers specifically target these systems, which increases the risk for companies in the energy transition. According to a report by CSO Online, security precautions are more important than ever given the growing threat landscape.
Energy 4.0: Security measures necessary
The threat of cyber attacks has also reached Eno Energy. To protect yourself against such attacks, robust security solutions are essential. Companies need to ensure that their systems are protected against malware and other unwanted programs. Installing advanced anti-malware tools is recommended to prevent future intrusions into systems and ensure infrastructure functionality.
At a time when the energy transition in Germany is more in focus than ever, the case of Eno Energy is a cautionary tale about the importance of investing not only in technological solutions, but also in security measures. The industry still has a long way to go to address these challenges and it remains to be seen how the situation will evolve for Eno Energy.
