First aid in Rostock: How to act correctly in an emergency!
Rostock, September 24, 2025 - Serious accidents continue to occur in the region, and the police have published current reports on traffic accidents, full closures and missing people. This week, special attention was paid to the need for first aid, because the correct behavior in emergency situations can save lives.
The police and rescue workers are calling on all citizens to call 112 for information and to provide first aid if the situation allows it. It is essential to stay at the scene unless your own safety is at risk. Important information such as the number of people affected and their injuries should be collected and the instructions of the emergency services should be followed. “Stay calm and supportive,” is the advice from the experts.
First Aid – A must for everyone
Like the German Red Cross reported, first aid courses are not only important for driving license applicants or first aiders in the company. Parents, educators and anyone who works with children should also learn the relevant skills. The courses are diverse: whether it is the standard one-day course with nine teaching units or specialized forms such as the “Child First Aid” course – the right offer is available for every target group.
A particularly important point is that the first aid certificate is valid indefinitely, while training to become a company assistant must be renewed after two years. Experts recommend refreshing your knowledge in a refresher course every five years in order to always stay up to date, because an average of eight people die in road traffic in Germany every year.
First aid can save lives
Current figures show that there were over 3,000 traffic deaths in Germany in 2019, according to the Federal Statistical Office. First aid measures are crucial for the rescue chain and have a significant influence on the outcome of accidents. The former DRK President Dr. Rudolf Seiters emphasizes that a one-time course is not enough - regular refreshers are essential.
In order to be able to act correctly in an emergency, it is important to be well prepared. The DRK courses provide a remedy here and make participants fit for emergencies.
So if you haven't taken a first aid course yet or would like to refresh your knowledge, it's worth taking a look at the DRK's offerings. Ultimately, courageous action can be crucial in emergency situations. Always ready to help others in need! Visit the DRK website to find out more about the various course offerings.
