Light Week 2025 in Rostock: Radiant highlights for the whole family!
Preparations for Light Week 2025 in Rostock are in full swing. From November 3rd to 8th, 2025, the city will shine in the glow of fantastic light installations. Under the motto “Cosmic Light”, the event invites locals and visitors to experience the city in the evening in a new splendor. Every day from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., sights such as the main university building, the town hall and the stone gate are bathed in spectacular light.
Unfortunately, the Kröpeliner Tor will not be involved due to construction work. Instead, an installation made of circling rays is presented here, which will also surprise passers-by. A special highlight of the Light Week is an area in the monastery garden that was specially designed for families in order to offer even the youngest an unforgettable experience.
Diverse program for everyone
The Light Week has many exciting program items in store. A lantern parade on Friday will open the event and create a magical ambience. Flashlight tours are also planned, where participants can discover the light installations in their own way. Black light makeup is also available — a wonderful way to get creative and blend in with the magical atmosphere.
To make the experience even more lively, “walking acts”, actors in costumes, will parade through the lively Kröpeliner Straße. These performances are an additional highlight that will amaze and delight the audience. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of hot drinks is also donated to non-profit organizations, making the event not only a feast for the senses, but also a contribution to the community.
Sustainability in focus
The sustainable orientation of the Light Week is particularly positive. All spotlights are equipped with energy-saving LED lights that run on green electricity. In this way, Rostock shows that an impressive light display and environmental protection can go hand in hand - in keeping with current efforts to create a greener future.
