Light Week 2025: Rostock shines in cosmic splendor!

With shining eyes and rapidly beating hearts, the people of Rostock and their guests can look forward to a very special spectacle in just a few days: Light Week 2025 is just around the corner! From November 3rd to 8th, the Hanseatic and university city will be transformed into a glittering fairytale of colors and shapes under the motto “Cosmic Light”. The event, organized by the Supreme GmbH, promises a magical journey full of galactic highlights. The most exciting thing about it? The light installations open every day at 4 p.m., while the special highlights of the day begin at 4:30 p.m.

The light installations extend over an impressive route from the Kröpeliner Tor, the Klostergarten and Universitätsplatz to the Neuer Markt and Steintor. While the Kröpeliner Tor is not directly illuminated due to renovation work, the surrounding area is still highlighted using creative light. Particularly noteworthy is an installation at the Kröpeliner Tor itself, in which rotating spotlights and a floating mirror ball invite you to marvel. Another attraction will be the university square, which will be transformed into a sparkling forest of mirror balls - a real feast for the eyes!

Family-friendly program and events

For families, there is a special area in the monastery garden with a children's program in the star tent, which is open daily from 4 p.m. Visitors are offered a varied program, ranging from walking acts on Kröpeliner Straße to a children's hands-on circus. The Glückssternzelt also invites you to leave everyday life behind with storytelling theater and mindfulness exercises. Exciting activities such as black light make-up, night watchman tours, giant mist bubbles and flashlight tours are also offered. A real highlight are the large, colorful soap bubbles, which especially enchant the little ones.

The week is packed with exciting highlights that you shouldn't miss. On November 5th, an impressive LED and fire show will be celebrated at Neuer Markt from 6 to 6:30 p.m. November 6th will be celebrated with a benefit concert in the Baroque Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. And on November 7th things get creative: in the Glückssternzelt there will be lantern crafting between 4 and 5.30 p.m., followed by a lantern parade at 5.30 p.m., which starts from the Klostergarten playground. The crowning conclusion of the Light Week is a spectacular laser show at Uniplatz on November 8th at 6:30 p.m.

Enjoyment for a good cause

But it's not just the lights that will shine! Delicious mulled wine is sold at three stands, with the proceeds going to 15 different clubs. With prices between 5 and 10 euros, plus a small deposit of 1 euro, the mulled wine not only makes you warm, but also does good. For the real bargain hunters, there is even the option of putting the deposit into special boxes and thus making an additional donation. So there should be something for everyone - from the festive atmosphere to a warm drink.
