Marteria and Paule inspire with a legendary floodlight duel in Rostock!

The Ostseestadion in Rostock was the location of a very special football event on September 5, 2025. The “Marteria vs. Paule” charity kick attracted an impressive number of over 22,189 fans who came together not only to marvel at the footballing skills, but also to raise money to build new floodlight masts for third division club Hansa Rostock. The evening was not only a celebration for football lovers, but also a tribute to the long and successful history of the club, which became NOFV champions and cup winners in 1991 and also appeared in the Bundesliga.

This event was organized by Stefan Beinlich, a former Hansa player, and the well-known rapper Marteria, who once played in the club's youth team. But the occasion was more than just a football game. The floodlight masts that are to be installed here have had their best days behind them; they are 55 years old and were released for renewal in 2019. The construction costs amount to an impressive 3.2 million euros, and the fundraising campaigns so far have already generated over 235,000 euros, as NDR reports.

A duel full of nostalgia and emotions

The game itself developed into an exciting exchange of blows, which ultimately ended in a 6:6 draw. Many former Hansa professionals were on the pitch, including Martin Pieckenhagen, Marko Rehmer and Rade Prica. They all played over five thousand games at FC Hansa Rostock and scored more than 700 goals - that speaks for itself!

The game's scorers were anything but unknown. What particularly stood out was “Paule’s” team and the stars like Klasnic and Verhoek, who were on Marteria’s side. The spectators were not only amused by the great moves, but also thrilled by the exuberant atmosphere in the stadium, which was rounded off with a Laola wave and lots of showpieces. Marteria, who described the floodlight masts as Rostock's landmarks, expressed his gratitude for the high number of spectators and the commitment of the fans.

An evening of legends

The highlight of the evening was the performance of Lukas Podolski, who, as a German world champion and former national player, sent the audience into ecstasy. The evening mixed with new and old faces of football. In addition to the alumni, guests such as the show jumper André Thieme, the swimmer Thomas Rupprath as well as DJ WestBam and TV chef Tim Mälzer also took the opportunity to take part and support the club.

Overall, “Marteria vs. Paule” was more than just a football game. It was a celebration of football legends and a symbolic step for the future of Hansa Rostock, which despite its challenges always comes together to keep the club's history alive. An event like this not only puts you in a good mood, it also shows that Rostock has a heart for its football and it was once again proven that we are strong together.

For many, the condition of the old floodlight masts is a reminder of the tradition and passion that lies in football. After assembly of the new masts began in July 2025 and the first eight have already been installed, commissioning is now imminent.
