New sports hall in Toitenwinkel opened: modernization for 4.9 million euros!
On June 25, 2025, a solemn handover of the modernized sports hall was celebrated in Pablo-Picasso-Straße 43b, Toitenwinkel. The comprehensive renovation took place as part of the "Sports facility program Northeast". During the renovation, the sports and social infrastructure was brought up to scratch, which in particular benefits the almost 1,000 pupils of the Baltic School, coastal school and primary school "on the pastures", which the hall can now use.
The representatives of the city of Rostock are particularly proud of the numerous renewals, including a new photovoltaic system, underfloor heating and a sound -optimized acoustic ceiling in the hallway area. These measures will not only make school operations easier, but also benefit numerous sports clubs, such as FSV Nordost Rostock, FC Förderkader René Schneider and the Rostock Seaawolves. These clubs offer a wide range of sports, from football and basketball to martial arts and volleyball to health sports and self -defense.
funding underline importance of the renovation
The total cost of the renovation amounts to around 4.9 million euros, with 1.34 million euros from urban development. Sigrid Hecht, the manager of Koe, emphasized the importance of these funding for the implementation of the project. "We are pleased that there were numerous means available to bring the hall to a modern stand," she said. With a seamless transition, the renovation of the neighboring hall in Pablo-Picasso-Straße 43, which represents the tenth and last object of the renovation list, will begin in July 2025. Around 4 million euros flow from the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDRE) here.
The project for Hall 43C has total costs of almost 7.4 million euros. During the renovation period, physical education is moved to the newly modernized Hall 43B, which should ensure that the school run runs smoothly. The completion of the project is expected for spring 2027.
diverse funding opportunities
The promotion of sports facilities is an important concern, not only in Rostock, but also beyond the borders of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Construction work in cities such as Schwerin, Neubrandenburg or Greifswald can also be supported by state funds. Recent funding guidelines are being planned, and the responsible sports clubs invite you to apply for grants in good time. If you want to participate in a modernization of club-owned sports facilities, you should find out more and submit applications for the district or city sports association in good time.
A look at the funding programs in other federal states, such as North Rhine-Westphalia, shows that similar developments take place there too. As part of the “Modern sports facility 2022” program, 300 million euros are available for improving the sports facility infrastructure, with almost fully exploited funds. A good reason to deal with the possibilities of funding in the current time!
The various funding opportunities offer a valuable opportunity to further modernize the sports facilities in Rostock and the surrounding area and to increase the quality of life through sporting activities. The city's commitment to sport is shown at all corners and corner - whether in modern school gymnasiums or with the diverse offers for sports clubs.
