The Rostock Seawolves can look forward to a new, strong addition: Owen Klassen will be part of the team until summer 2027. The 2.08 meter tall Canadian comes from league rivals Würzburg, where he played in the Champions League. Classes brings a wide range of experience from various European leagues, having already played for teams in Montenegro, Greece, Belgium, France and of course Canada. Sports director Kevin Anstett emphasizes that Klassen is considered intelligent, physically strong and defensively skilled.
Owen Klassen has played an impressive 233 games in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) in his career so far, having started his professional career in 2014 with MZT Skopje in the Macedonian Adriatic League. After a winding journey that took him to Phoenix Hagen, Oldenburg, Ludwigsburg and Braunschweig, among others, the Seawolves now seem to offer the perfect platform for his skills.

“My family and I are excited about life in Rostock,” said Klassen, who is also trying to get a German passport in order to achieve even more in the BBL. He is aware of the city's passion for basketball and hopes to make a significant contribution.
The signing of Klassen comes at a time when the Seawolves have suffered some departures, including players like JeQuan Lewis and Malik Osborne. But with the signing of Klassen and the new players DeAndre Lansdowne (Chemnitz) and Andy VanVliet (Gravelines-Dunkerque), the Seawolves have a significantly improved team in sight for the coming season.
