Rostock city harbor shines again: quay open again after renovation!

In addition to the revised area, new benches and lanterns were also installed, which help give the promenade a new shine. The costs for this project amount to around 2.5 million euros. However, it should be noted that this measure is not part of the larger “Rostocker Oval” project, which envisages further developments in the port area.

Renovation of the Kempowski bank

What happens now? Dredging work on the quay edge on Kempowski-Ufer will start from November 2023, and the renovation will include extensive measures. This project also creates the basis for future flood protection, which is essential for the safety and further expansion of the city port.

Timing and future prospects

The ongoing work on the quay at berth 83E is scheduled to be completed by the Hanse Sail 2025 celebrations, while the entire construction project on Kempowski-Ufer is scheduled to be completed by the next Hanse Sail in 2026. Rostock is expecting an atmospheric revival of its harbor and can count on a fresh, safe atmosphere for the years to come.
