Sensational debut: Emil Holten leads Hansa Rostock to a record battle!
FC Hansa Rostock delivered a top-class show in their appearance in the second main round of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Football Cup. With an impressive 17-0 win against SV Traktor Dargun, the Rostock team catapulted themselves into the third round of the competition. Emil Holten, who was only signed on Friday, celebrated a very special debut: he scored five goals. Northern Courier reports that Holten took the lead in the 12th minute and thus opened the scoring.
The team from Rostock clearly dominated the first half. Immediately after Holten's first goal, six more goals followed within just ten minutes, so that an impressive 7-0 was on the scoreboard at halftime. NDR highlights that the goals from Tim Krohn, who netted five times, stood out, while Maximilian Krauß made his contribution with a hat trick.
Great participation from Dargun's goalkeeper
Although SV Traktor Dargun ended up with a big deficit, there was at least one bright spot in the game: Johannes Blücher, the goalkeeper for the lower division, made some strong saves that prevented an even bigger defeat. Without his brilliant performances, his team would probably have suffered even more.
Coach Daniel Brinkmann from FC Hansa Rostock had complained about personnel shortages before the game, but the new additions seem to have refreshed the team. Not only did Holten appear incompetent, some players showed excellent performances. Fiete Bock celebrated his comeback after an illness, which further boosted the good mood in the team.
An afternoon full of goals
The other scorers in the game were impressive. After the break, the Rostock team seamlessly returned to the high tempo and scored five more goals from minutes 47 to 58. In addition to Holten, who scored for the second time in a row, Krohn in particular was active again, which put additional pressure on Dargun's defense. Claas Zamzow brought the festival to a close in the 78th minute.
A remarkable aspect was the number of spectators: around 22,000 fans gathered in the Ostseestadion in fantastic conditions to watch the spectacle. For many it was a disappointment that world champion Lukas Podolski had to cancel at short notice, but the Rostock team's appearances still left the fans smiling. Kicker captures the details.
With this impressive victory, Hansa Rostock will certainly not only reach the third round of the state cup, but will also gain a lot of self-confidence for the upcoming games. The football season promises to remain exciting!
