Scandal in Rostock: Physiotherapist admits massive sexual abuse!

The verdict against a 45-year-old former physiotherapist is expected at the Rostock regional court on November 4, 2025. The man confessed at the start of the trial in September this year that he had sexually assaulted 17 women over a period of five years, from March 2020 to March 2025. The women, aged 15 to 83, suffered from rape and sexual harassment in his practice in Elmenhorst-Lichtenhagen.

The prosecution is demanding a prison sentence of four and a half years, while the defense is seeking a lighter sentence of between three and a half and four years. Between the charges there are five counts of rape and eleven counts of sexual assault. Two instances of sexual harassment were also documented. A particularly shocking case is that of a 19-year-old woman who was targeted in December 2024.

Compensation and responsibility

As part of a perpetrator-victim settlement, the defendant paid a total of 115,000 euros to the women affected. It was also revealed that one of the first criminal complaints was filed by a female police officer, who herself was one of the victims. After the investigation was initiated and a search warrant was obtained, the defendant's practice was closed.

During the trial, videos of police interviews were played in which the women reported inappropriate touching during their treatments. The defendant stated that he had suffered from personal problems, alcohol and porn consumption, which contributed to his overwork.

Criminal record and consequences

What is particularly worrying is the fact that the defendant already had a previous conviction for sexual harassment in 2019. When determining the overall punishment, abuse in protected spaces should also be taken into account. The court could impose individual sentences ranging from three months for sexual harassment to 27 months for rape. It is also recommended that the defendant is not allowed to work in sensitive areas for the first five years after his release from prison.

The court's upcoming decision is eagerly awaited, as it directly affects not only the fate of the defendant, but above all that of the women affected. n-tv reports, that the verdict should be announced at 12:00 p.m.

In a society where awareness of sexual assault is constantly growing, this trial stands as a reminder of the need to take victims seriously and hold perpetrators accountable. The gravity of the crimes and the impact on the women affected must be clearly reflected in the final verdict in order to send a strong message.
