Traffic chaos in Rostock: Massive traffic jams and construction sites until 2026!

Today, June 27, 2025, the traffic in and around Rostock once again drew attention. Current traffic jam and traffic reports make it clear that drivers should plan carefully. According to the Ostsee Zeitung, both the A19 and A20 motorways and the B103, B105 and B110 federal highways are affected by disruptions. Anyone traveling here should be prepared for a few obstacles.

If you look at the current reports, there are a lot of traffic jams and stalled traffic in the region. Especially on the B105 between Bentwisch and Rövershagen, you had to expect a time loss of around six minutes. But not only there: there is also a traffic jam with a five-minute delay between Klein Bartelstorfer Weg and the L182. The traffic between Rostock-Ost and Bentwisch is also strained and causes additional stress on the roads. This information is confirmed by the live map from staumelder-karte.de, which is constantly updated and offers drivers good orientation.

Construction sites and renovation work

The city of Rostock is facing significant structural changes that will begin in 2025. Neubrandenburger Straße will be renovated in three parts. The first section, which leads from the railway crossing to the Molkerei/Röthsoll residential area, could begin as early as February 2025 and drivers must expect massive restrictions for around nine months. In addition, the municipal utilities are planning a new district heating supply, which will also affect traffic for several months.

But that's not all: permanent construction sites are currently a common sight in Rostock. The bridge in Rennbahnallee at the zoo will be demolished and rebuilt by autumn 2026. The Vorpommern Bridge, which carries the L22 over the Warnow, is also about to be rebuilt, which is expected to take 15 years. Drivers should definitely plan their routes in advance.

Traffic information and tools

For those who don't want to get lost in city traffic, Rostock uses modern traffic monitoring technologies. The data comes, among other things, from the “TomTom” service, which records the GPS coordinates of millions of devices and updates them every five minutes. Google Maps, Apple Maps and Garmin also help ensure that the city's traffic situation is constantly tracked and analyzed.

With the current traffic situation and the upcoming construction sites, it remains a challenging time for many drivers in Rostock. That's why it's even more important to be well informed when traveling.
