Viktoria Köln suffered a bitter 2:4 against Hansa Rostock – home defeat!
In an exciting duel in the 3rd league, Viktoria Cologne lost 2-4 to Hansa Rostock on Friday, October 26, 2025. This defeat meant the first home defeat for the Cologne team in almost 200 days and caused long faces among the around 5,750 spectators in the Höhenberg sports park.
The game started with a lively performance from Rostock, who had the action in their hands in the first few minutes. Andreas Voglsammer had the first opportunity in the third minute, but Viktoria goalkeeper Dudu was there. Despite a stable initial phase, the Cologne team only slowly got going. A header from Tim Kloss in the 9th minute went just wide, and David Otto also failed with a double chance in the 13th minute against Rostock keeper Benjamin Uphoff.
Rostock double blow
After a quarter of an hour it was Ryan Naderi who finally scored 1-0 for Rostock from close range (20th minute). Just four minutes later he made it 2-0 after a free-kick cross from Cedric Harenbrock was perfectly converted. In this phase, Rostock dominated the game, while Cologne were initially unable to break free.
But Victoria showed morale. When Ley Tyger Lobinger was brought down in the penalty area in the 36th minute, he took responsibility and converted the penalty to make it 1-2. With this upswing there was hope, but both Cologne and Rostock missed further chances shortly before half-time.
After halftime everything went wrong
The second half started very poorly for Cologne: Kenan Fatkic converted the penalty to make it 3-1 for Rostock in the 50th minute, before increasing it to 4-1 just five minutes later. The Cologne team left an unconvincing impression and made it easy for their opponents to extend their lead with mistakes.
Viktoria also had a few chances of its own, such as a header from Soichiro Kozuki in the 75th minute that was parried by Uphoff, and the loud support from around 1,500 Cologne fans was remarkable. Nevertheless, it was Lobinger who converted the second penalty in stoppage time to make it 2:4 and thus became a small consolation for the team.
