Warnemünde celebrates: Monchi and Gabriel Kelly rock the beach!

The 87th Warnemünde Week has begun in the picturesque Baltic Sea resort of Warnemünde and promises a colorful festival full of music and community. Today, July 6, 2025, the event opened with a diverse program that included local clubs, shanty choirs and traditional groups. They performed in the Kurhausgarten and at the traditional Niegen Ümgang and created a cheerful atmosphere among the guests. But the highlight of the evening was the live podcast “Because it always burns”, moderated by Jan Gorkow, better known as Monchi, with surprise guest Gabriel Kelly. The podcast took place at the Wal Strandbar and discussed, among other things, new music projects and surprising mix-ups in everyday life.

For Gabriel Kelly, returning to Warnemünde was something very special. His parents met through the Kelly Family in 1991 at a local performance. The singer remembered this anecdote fondly, especially since the connection to this region is of great importance to the Kelly Family. Old memories come back, especially when Monchi and Gabriel chatted about life as public figures. The podcast ended with the popular hit “An Angel” and a humorous explanation of the “ex or Kelly fan” toast.

A look at the music scene

The musical roots of the Warnemünder Woche are deeply connected to the band Feine Sahne Fischfilet, which is once again making people sit up and take notice with their new album “WE COME IN FRIEDEN” two years after their previous work. The band, known for their melodic punk rock, releases twelve new songs that reflect current social issues. The title song not only addresses the band's history, but also the evolution of the musicians, who have had to deal with challenging situations in the past, including tensions and separations that occurred in 2021.

The band is also known for its commitment to fighting right-wing radicalism and social injustice. Her lyrics deal with controversial topics such as personal experiences, social criticism and political realities, and are full of energy and emotion. A highlight of the album is the song “Haut an Haut”, a ballad about Monchi’s experiences as a father. It remains to be seen how the reunited band will present themselves on the next tour.

Festivals on the Baltic Sea coast

While Warnemünde Week is celebrated in Warnemünde, other festivals on the Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are also very popular.
