Swan blocks front door: Police have to intervene in Friedland!

Sometimes the little things in life make us smile, but an incident occurred in Friedland on Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025, that took an unexpected turn not only for the affected resident, but also for the police and neighbors. An aggressive swan made itself comfortable in front of the front door of a 38-year-old man and caused quite a stir.

The unfortunate resident just wanted to leave the house, but the swan blocked the exit and didn't let him pass. After a few minutes of unsuccessful attempts to get past the feathered troublemaker, the man had no choice but to ask the police for help. That reports NDR.

Police and depot in action

The alerted police officers arrived at the scene and were greeted by a confused but seemingly non-aggressive creature. Their experience with such operational situations clearly came into play here. The officers had to call in an employee from the local depot who brought a transport box to carefully catch the swan.

After a short time, the police managed to get the swan into the box - but not without considerable resistance. It turned out that the swan was quite a stubborn fellow. Eventually he was safely packaged and transported to a nearby pond where he was released unharmed. The police also stated that there would be no further investigation into the feathered aggressor's motives.

A thoughtful place

The incident quickly became a topic of conversation in the neighborhood. “I had never seen a swan blockade like this before,” smiled a neighbor who had observed the scene. The police spokeswoman even jokingly added that they were refraining from researching the swan's motives - "We'll just let the water continue to flow."

As you can see, a feathered neighbor can sometimes cause great trouble, while the law enforcement officers, despite all the contradictions, maintained their humorous approach to the situation. It will be interesting to see whether the swan will carry out such pranks again in the future or whether they will prefer their new habitat by the pond. In any case, we are left with an amusing story that will be a topic of conversation among Friedlanders for a long time to come.

Incidents like these remind us that not only people but also animals have a place in urban life and sometimes create unexpected challenges.
