Double concert in Hagenow: Windros Festival brings folk to the stage!
On September 11, 2025, the Old Synagogue in Hagenow will be the venue for a very special musical experience. At 7 p.m. there will be a double concert as part of the Windros Folk Music Festival, which, with its motto “Strings get Wings,” offers a brilliant stage for the variety of stringed instruments. Loud Northern Courier The bands Stereo Naked and Hartwin Dhoore Trio will be performing this evening.
Stereo Naked, a German-New Zealand duo, impresses with a unique sound that combines bluegrass elements with double bass and banjo. The charming live performances by Pierce Black and Julia Zech are characterized by humor and narrative songs. The Hartwin Dhoore Trio, on the other hand, brings a different timbre into play with diatonic accordion, cello and violin. Musician Hartwin Dhoore is known for his simple and melancholic instrumental music and performs together with Flavia Escartin and Pavel Souvandjiev.
The Windros Festival: A real highlight
The concert in Hagenow is just the start of the 12th Windros Festival, which will take place from September 12th to 14th, 2025 in the Schwerin Mueß open-air museum. How Trad music center reports, a large number of international artists are expected at the festival. Among them are Old Salt from the USA as well as various bands from Denmark, the Czech Republic and Poland, all of which will contribute to the intercultural diversity of this event.
There are a total of five stages available, which are used not only for music, but also for numerous workshops, lectures and participatory dances. The festival aims to promote communication and exchange between different cultures through traditional music. However, the program is subject to change, which is why it is advisable to inform yourself in advance.
Stringed instruments as bridge builders
The importance of stringed instruments also becomes clear in another context. An integrative music project under the motto “Music wins children”. BDB Music Academy was brought to life shows how these instruments act as bridge builders between cultures. The history of stringed instruments reflects centuries of migration and demonstrates the diversity in musical expression.
By incorporating instruments such as the mandolin and ukulele into lessons, a low-threshold approach is created that primarily appeals to children from different cultural backgrounds. Christoph Karle, head of the BDB academy, emphasizes the importance of stringed instruments for early musical education and is planning a series of courses for the coming autumn semester.
