Eisbein Cup on Schwerin's inner lake: sailing fun for young and old!

On November 8th, 2025, the Schwerin Sailing Home invited people to the traditional Eisbein Cup, organized by the SSV Jugend. The competition was a highlight for the sailing community, with adults competing in the popular “Optimist” sailboats. Around 25 participants were on the Schwerin inner lake, where teams had to circumnavigate two installed targets. The atmosphere on the waterfront was one of excitement and laughter as spectators cheered loudly from the jetty. Things got particularly colorful when the tilt of the boats on the water caused a few smiles - no wonder, because the weight of the adults was noticeable.

The competition conditions were well secured. The youth of the SSV operated motorized inflatable boats to ensure the safety of the participants during the races. The hungry and thirsty spectators were also taken care of - drinks were available, although it remained unclear afterwards whether there would be a large ice cream meal.

Sailing in the digital age

The world of water sports is changing rapidly, especially due to advancing digitalization and artificial intelligence. Innovative technologies were presented at INTERBOOT, which took place in Friedrichshafen from September 24th to 28th. Professional sailor Lucas Hesse presented the AC40 simulator, which could revolutionize sailing. This simulator not only offers risk-free training in complex maneuvers, but also allows online competitions against other crews.

The JoJo water sports school was also present at the trade fair and showed a VR yacht training simulator. This enables training without the risk of property damage and uses the latest technology to recreate realistic competition situations. According to Hesse, this type of training is a leap into the future of sailing.

Smart in everyday life with Meta AI

Digital innovations are not only in demand in water sports; More and more people are also using new technologies in everyday life. Meta has released the Meta AI application with Llama 4. This app allows users to seamlessly complete tasks through voice interaction while receiving personal and relevant answers. The functions are varied, from voice broadcasts to image generation and editing. This application shows how artificial intelligence is also becoming increasingly important in the private sector.

Meta AI is accessible in a variety of countries and supports smooth everyday life thanks to its improved voice interaction. These developments are only a small part of the advancing digitalization that has reached many areas of life and helps to overcome everyday challenges.

From the arena of competitive sailing to innovative apps – interactive exchange and learning new skills are not neglected. Whether in the Eisbein Cup or in the digital space, progress is noticeable everywhere and promotes the coming together of tradition and innovation.
