FC Mecklenburg Schwerin with a double defeat: coach remains optimistic!
In preparation for the 2025/26 season, FC Mecklenburg Schwerin showed that test games are more than just a result: they are the stage on which team spirit and condition can develop. Despite the clear defeats against Niendorfer TSV (0: 4) and TSV Bardowick (0: 3), coach André Sevecke remains optimistic.
The first game on July 15 against the top division Niendorfer TSV revealed both strengths and the team's weaknesses. In the first half, the FCM was playing playfully and had some ball ownership phases, but a goal after a corner ball brought the team off the track. Sevecke criticized the defensive organization, especially after massive changes in the second half that disturbed the game flow. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the experiences from these encounters are valuable for the further development of the team and the training week had a positive impact on athletic fitness.
test games: an important part of the preparation
test games are not only important for professional teams, but also for preparation in the amateur area. [Training Service] (https://training-service.fussball.de/trainer/artikel/testenspiele-sind-anß-anweistte- training units-2455/) emphasizes that these games serve to improve training content and offer players to give players. The change of players enables additional training forms and the chance to strengthen the collective. The focus here is not on the result orientation, but on recognizing strengths and weaknesses. When choosing the opponents, the FCM pursues a strategy to target training -tactical priorities.
For the FCM, apart from the games already played, there are further test games on the program in the coming weeks. On Friday, July 18, the team awaits FSV Veritas Wittenberge from the West/Brandenburg state class, which offers another opportunity to implement what learned during the training week.
personnel changes
The test game phase also falls into a time of upheaval in the FCM squad. With the departures from Til Breitkreutz (to FC Schönberg), Soshi Kosuga (to an unknown club), Sebastian Neugebauer (to MSV Pampow) and Jakob Ewert (to FC Goldenstädt), the players have to reorganize themselves. On the other hand, there are also some newcomers, including Lucas Holz (TSG Gadebusch) and several talents from their own ranks.
With a broader squad and the experiences made, the FCM is well positioned in order to further refine its way of playing in the remaining test games and to start the new season optimally. Bundesliga shows that many teams are currently mastering similar challenges in order to assert themselves in the league.
The next few days will show how FC Mecklenburg Schwerin will develop and which teachings can be drawn from the test games.
