This year the Hanse Sail in Rostock, which took place from August 7th to 10th, saw a record attendance of around 500,000 guests. This event is one of the largest meetings of traditional sailors in the world and is the largest folk festival in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Tourism director Matthias Fromm expressed his delight at the immense appeal of the event, which also supported Rostock's application as a sailing location for the Olympic Games. With around 120 ships from nine nations, the maritime backdrop was impressive and an unforgettable experience for many visitors. The 34th edition of the maritime spectacle attracted not only locals but also numerous tourists from all over the world. Even though there were fewer participating ships than in the previous year, the ship losses were compensated for thanks to the large number of sailing tickets and a large number of short trips. Around 16,000 people had the opportunity to be on board on the waters of the Warnow and the Baltic Sea and enjoy the impressive maritime atmosphere. N TV highlights that despite the crowds, the event ran harmoniously and the police only recorded twelve minor crimes. The vast majority of festival visitors were able to enjoy the colorful offerings to the fullest.
A feast for the senses
The Hanse Sail not only offers an impressive fleet of traditional ships, but also attracts visitors with a varied program. From live performances by well-known artists to culinary specialties and rides, there was something for every taste. On Friday evening we could look forward to a special performance by Marquess on the main stage. Fireworks were also planned for the evenings, which further brightened the festive atmosphere. The events stretched from the seaside resort of Warnemünde right through to the center of Rostock.
