Young tennis stars conquer Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: championship title for Ueberschär and Rupprath!
The 34th edition of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Championships provided exciting matches this year at the TC Blau-Weiß Rostock facility. On the weekend from June 20th to 22nd, 2025, the participants impressively showed what they were made of. Particularly noteworthy is the impressive performance of the two young talents: Jolien Ueberschär and Mick Rupprath, who not only secured the title but are also considered future stars of tennis in MV.
Jolien Ueberschär, only 16 years old and a player for TC Blau-Weiß Warnemünde, won the national singles championship title in her age group without losing a set. In the semifinals she won 6:2, 7:5 against Collien Kriegel from ARTC Rostock. Even in the final against Mariia Iordanova, also from ARTC Rostock, she didn't let herself be disturbed and clearly won 6:3, 6:2. She won her first national title and plans to take part in international tournaments in the future. She is also looking for sponsors to further advance her career. She is trained by her brother Antonius Ueberschär, who is also active in tennis.
The path to the title
In the men's field, Mick Rupprath was another name that made a name for itself. The 17-year-old, who plays for TC Kühlungsborn, also won his first title among the big players. In the quarterfinals he defeated Julien Soos from the University of Greifswald in an exciting match that was decided in three sets. Things were tough in the semi-finals too, where he again beat Marcus Groß in three sets. Finally, he left no stone unturned in the final against Arthur Humboldt, who also plays for the Blau-Weiß Warnemünde team, and won 6:1, 6:2.
The achievements of Ueberschär and Rupprath exemplify the importance of youth development in tennis. Loud Tennis100 Targeted support programs are crucial for the development of young talent and the future of sport. These programs give young players access to qualified training that develops technical, tactical and social skills. The success of such youth support depends not least on the structure and organization of the tennis clubs.
Tournament highlights and further developments
A look back at the history of the tournament shows that the TMV Association Championships in Rostock are not only a platform for young talent, but also represent an important event in the calendar of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania tennis community. The indoor association championships, which took place in January, also had some exciting encounters. Antonius Ueberschär, Jolien's brother, was able to put together a thrilling match against Tom Korpatsch in the men's final, which ended 6:7, 7:6, 10:8.
Tennis in the region benefits enormously from a well-thought-out club structure that promotes training plans and participation in competitions. The sense of community in the clubs and the support from associations are essential in order to further develop talents like Ueberschär and Rupprath. Ultimately, such successes help to strengthen the sporting base and show how important it is to rely on young people.
