Jysk Summer Festival: Employees celebrate and support local initiatives!
It's summer time and things are going well at Jysk in Zarrentin! This year the annual summer festival took place, which offers an important platform not only for employees, but also for local initiatives and clubs. Despite the mixed weather, the atmosphere on September 17, 2025 was great. As [nordkurier.de](https://www.nordkurier.de/regional/hagenow/arbeiter- Feiern-und-helfer-arbeiter-nach-skandinavischen-kritik-3929394) reports, the proceeds from the popular raffle went to the youth fire department, the multi-generational house and the young conservationists in the Pahlhuus. New this year: Support for children's cancer aid in Schwerin.
With an attractive price of 10 euros per ticket, the dedicated Jysk employees contributed their share to the success of the festival. And this has been going on for many years! The raffle proved to be a real magnet, as in the past up to 10,000 euros were collected here. Managing director Oliver Mumme not only highlighted the great initiatives, but also emphasized the Scandinavian corporate values such as flat hierarchies and being on first-name terms with each other.
Community through engagement
Jysk also invests in the health of its employees, be it through a hotel-level canteen or additional financial support for sporting activities. And that's not all: Voluntary work on weekends is even rewarded with a bonus, which shows that commitment is very important here. The summer festival not only invites employees, but also their families, with its own program for the little ones.
Deputy Mayor Philipp Grotheloh took the opportunity to highlight the many benefits for the city. Jysk has been based in Schaalseestadt since 1997 and brings an international flair with 330 employees who come from 52 different countries. To promote integration, Jysk offers German courses and provides rooms to facilitate communication between employees.
Social responsibility is very important
It's not just the summer festival that is a sign of Jysk's social commitment. The “JYSK Charity Run 2024” took place in the summer of 2024, during which around 500 employees ran through Germany to draw attention to the situation of sick and disadvantaged children. The impressive route stretched 1,900 kilometers from Flensburg to Singen and brought in a total of 85,000 euros in donations for various organizations such as the Flensburg Child and Youth Welfare Association and the Association for Children with Cancer Hannover e.V.
The check presentation on November 22, 2024 at the RTL donation marathon in Hürth was another highlight of this charitable commitment. Jysk shows that they not only do good business, but also make a valuable contribution to society. The team remains on an exciting growth path and even plans to increase the number of employees to over 400. A real recipe for success through community and a sense of responsibility!
