Police are desperately searching for missing 86-year-old woman from Schwerin!

In Schwerin, the police are currently working at full speed to find the missing 86-year-old Gisela Hedwig Margarete Schaerig. The elderly lady, who was last seen in her dormitory in Paulsstadt on July 1, 2025 at around 1:30 p.m., has been untraceable since then. Their relatives are very worried and hope for information from the public. The Schwerin police have already initiated several search measures, but the search has so far been unsuccessful.

Gisela Schaerig is around 1.50 meters tall, slim and, as reported, has an upper body that is heavily bent forward. At the time of her disappearance she was wearing black trousers and a black and pink top. Local officials are asking citizens to remain vigilant and report possible sightings by calling 0385 5180-2224 or emergency number 110. The police are relying on the help of the media and the public to collect information that can lead to the missing people being found.

The situation in Germany

The problem of missing people extends throughout Germany. According to Salind GPS, almost 10,000 people have been reported missing in this country. The police register around 200 to 300 new missing person reports every day. Half of these cases are solved in the first week, but around three percent of the missing people remain untraceable for more than a year. Males are particularly often affected, with around half of those missing being children and young people, often in connection with personal crises or problems.

The disappearances of people have different causes. Serious reasons such as heartbreak or school problems are often the deciding factor. The rate of missing reports is particularly high for unaccompanied refugees from minors. In these cases, the police initiate large-scale searches as quickly as possible to ensure the well-being of the person concerned.

Protective measures for people at risk

Technical aids are becoming increasingly important in the search for missing people. Relatives are now able to use GPS trackers to locate people in need of help, such as seniors, in an emergency. After reporting a missing person, the police immediately record the most important data and evaluate digital traces to identify the whereabouts. International searches can even be initiated in the border area if the situation requires it.

The police in Schwerin and the relatives of the missing Gisela Schaerig are in urgent need of information. It remains to be hoped that with the help of the public and the media, the search will soon come to a positive end and the elderly lady can return safely.
