Christmas magic in Wismar: fairy tales and music enchant the city!

The anticipation of the Christmas season is increasing and with it the numerous events in Wismar and Schwerin that will delight both big and small hearts. The focus is particularly on the classic ballet “The Nutcracker”, which not only conquers the stage but also the hearts of the audience.

On December 7th at 4 p.m. the Wismar Theater starts with the performance “The Nutcracker – Clara’s Dream” by the “Carl Orff” district music school. Further performances are scheduled for December 8th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 16th and 17th, always at 9 and 11 a.m. And on December 14th, the spectators will be in their seats again at 4 p.m. Admission to this fairytale performance is a simple 6 euros. The story is based on the fairy tale by E. T. A. Hoffmann, was set to music as a ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and celebrated its premiere in Saint Petersburg in 1892. Since then, “The Nutcracker” has become one of the most popular Christmas ballets in the world.

Exciting performances for the family

But that's not all: on December 13th at 6 p.m., the Crown Ballet will perform another version of The Nutcracker, for which ticket prices range from 54 to 57 euros, while children up to 12 years old can take part in the magical journey for just 26 euros. Another highlight for the whole family is the family magic show by Linis Faber, which takes place on November 15th at 4 p.m. in the Wismar Theater. Admission: 21 euros (reduced 14 euros).

For the youngest there is the puppet game “Hans im Glück” in the old horse stable in Fahren on November 30th at 3:30 p.m. Admission is just 2 euros. And there is also plenty on offer for music lovers: a Christmas concert by the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle in the Schwerin theater tent will fill hearts with festive sounds on December 13th and 14th.

An all-round Christmas program

The Christmas season in Wismar and Schwerin offers a colorful range of events. On December 19th it will be really festive with a Christmas tour “Star Magic”, where Uta Bresan, Olaf Berger, Anna-Carina Woitschack and André Stade will be on stage. The tickets cost 57.75 euros. In addition, the Ostseeklänge wind orchestra in Grevesmühlen will tell stories from “Peter and the Wolf” and “Snow White” on December 3rd, with entry prices of 5 euros for children and 8 euros for adults.

And for operetta lovers, there will be a Viennese operetta Christmas on December 18th with a ticket price between 29 and 39 euros at the Wismar Theater.
