What's going on in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania? On June 24, 2025, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid a visit to the region, accompanied by foreign ambassadors. The aim of this excursion was to present the diversity of the German regions and to draw attention to local companies.
The journey began in Waren an der Müritz, where Steinmeier visited Mecklenburgische Metallguss GmbH. Ship propellers are produced here for the international market. The company is a real asset for the region and shows how regional craftsmanship is linked to international business. After an exciting insight into the production, we went to lunch in the magnificent surroundings of Ulrichshusen Castle.
Cultural heritage and wedding magic
Ulrichshusen Castle is known for its historical setting and is used not only for official events, but also for weddings. With large halls and a beautiful castle park, it offers ideal conditions for celebrations. Families and couples can spend their special moments here in one of the stylish rooms such as the knight's hall and the banquet hall, which can be decorated according to personal wishes. In the afternoon, a tour of the Rostock harbor was on the agenda. Here the ambassadors and Steinmeier were able to experience the maritime tradition and importance of the region up close. The day was rounded off with an invitation to the sailing training ship “Gorch Fock”, where a reception took place that underlined the maritime history.
With the combination of industrial innovation, cultural heritage and maritime tradition, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania shows its best sides. The visit by Steinmeier and the ambassadors is a right step towards presenting the region in the best light and showing that there is a good hand for entrepreneurship and culture here.
