Triple celebration: Schmatzin celebrates anniversaries with a big summer party!

A big summer festival is being celebrated in the small community of Schmatzin this weekend, bringing together three important anniversaries. The occasion couldn't be more beautiful: 850 years of Schlatkow village history, 70 years of Schlatkow fire department and 10 years of an active cultural association. The festival promises a varied program and attracts locals and visitors from the surrounding area. So the residents were counting on a weekend full of excitement and happy memories. As the NDR reports, the event will open on Friday, June 20, 2025, with a cinema evening in the festival barn in Schlatkow.

There are many films on the program on the first day of the festival. The first film, “Little Goat, Stubborn Goat,” will be shown at 5:30 p.m., followed by “Trace of the Stones” at 8:00 p.m. This entertaining evening is organized by the Schlatkow parish. But that is just the beginning of an exciting time that will continue on Saturday with a big parade from Schmatzin to Schlatkow, which is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.

The colorful festival program

At the village center in Schlatkow, visitors can expect a hustle and bustle with stories from local residents who share their personal memories and anecdotes. There will also be guided tours of the manor house ensemble, which is to be converted into a place for holidays and work in the future - even if the community still has a long way to go before implementation.

The fire department shows off its skills with impressive demonstrations, including a simulation exercise on a fire scenario in the midday sun and another in the afternoon that focuses on cars. Meanwhile, a project choir provides musical entertainment in the village church before the day's program is interrupted with a concert by accordionist Susanne Stock. For night owls there will be a disco with DJ Sun & Co., who will make the marquee shake until the early hours of the morning.

The end with a magical Sunday

Sunday begins relaxed with a traditional morning pint in the festival barn. With a laughing magician, Tjark Schlößer will entertain the guests from 10:30 a.m. and make faces smile.
