Fire extinguisher accident in Grimmen: investigation stopped, student injured!
In Grimmen, in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, there was an incident at the “Robert Koch” regional primary school in February that led to an evacuation. A fire extinguisher had accidentally vented, causing the contents to spread throughout the school hallway and floors below. NDR reported this in a recent article. The police then conducted a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
The results of the investigation are now clear: the Stralsund public prosecutor's office discontinued the proceedings because no misconduct on the part of the students could be proven. Particular attention was paid to the fire extinguisher, which did not have a safety pin, which made it possible for it to be accidentally triggered when moving furniture. Unfortunately, there were some injuries among the students: ten children had respiratory problems and another child broke his collarbone while leaving the building. They were immediately taken to hospitals.
School operations returned to normal
Thanks to thorough investigations and quick support from the authorities, school operations were able to resume quickly. The school administration and teaching staff expressed relief that the safety of the students was not at risk. Incidents of this kind often lead to uncertainty, but in this case everything seems to have remained within reason.
A completely different message reaches us from the USA, where Formula 1 caused a sensation again on October 19, 2025 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Max Verstappen won the race with an impressive lead of nine seconds, securing his fifth victory of the current season. He now finds himself in third place in the drivers' standings, with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, both of McLaren, ahead of him.
F1 season in the fast lane
The Austin race was the second of three American F1 races of the season. In this exciting event, Lando Norris overtook Charles Leclerc on the 51st lap and secured second place. Lewis Hamilton narrowly missed the podium with his fourth place. The driver standings are currently as follows:
| rank | driver | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Oscar Piastri | 346 |
| 2 | Lando Norris | 332 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | 306 |
| 4 | George Russell | 252 |
| 5 | Charles Leclerc | 192 |
| 6 | Lewis Hamilton | 142 |
F1 has also extended bookings for the next few years and the United States Grand Prix will remain on the racing calendar until 2034. The event has already contributed $7 billion to the local economy since 2012. There is also a new deal with Apple that will allow all F1 races to be broadcast on Apple TV from 2026 - another step into the future of motorsports.
Overall, there is a lot going on in the world of sport: While everything is now running smoothly again in Grimmen, Formula 1 is heading towards the next big race in Las Vegas on November 22nd, 2025. It remains exciting!
