In the Hanseatic city of Greifswald, the digital infrastructure is being significantly upgraded. With the latest developments in the area of public WiFi, the city has noticeably increased the quality of life for its citizens and visitors. Building on existing offerings, eight additional WiFi hotspots have now been installed in the city center, reports NDR.
The new hotspots are located at central points: at the train station, district court, Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße and along Langen Straße up to the fish market. This is an easy way to get online in the city center without having to rely on mobile data.
Improving the WiFi quality is the priority. The new hotspots offer a download speed of around 100 Mbit/s and an upload speed of up to 50 Mbit/s, depending on the proximity to the access point. This initiative was significantly supported by financial resources from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and was implemented in close cooperation with the Greifswald City Center Association (VGI). The city is taking another step into the digital future and ensuring that its residents and guests always remain connected.
