Big sports weekend: Greifswalder Beachcup inspires on the beach!
An exciting sporting weekend is ahead! On July 11, 2025, from 6:00 p.m., the Eldena lido in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district will be the stage for the third Greifswald Beach Cup. Around 70 teams will compete against each other in seven fascinating disciplines, including beach tennis, beach soccer, beach hockey and a newly introduced sport: beach rugby. In addition, the Paralympic team sport of goalball will also be part of the program, offering spectators a wide range of top sporting performances. The Tagesschau reports that spontaneous and inexperienced players on site have the opportunity to join a beginner team, thus encouraging everyone to become part of the action.
The Beach Cup is organized by the Greifswald Sports Association and carried out by various local sports clubs who put their full energy into the event. In order to honor the proud achievements of the athletes active on the clay court, the tournament winners will be honored on both days of the competition at around 4 p.m. An individual trophy, designed by the Cziotec company in collaboration with the Greifswalder Sports Association, adorns the winning series and provides additional incentive to prove oneself in the competition.
A varied program
Participants can look forward to a packed program. Overall, there are exciting matches in beach rugby and other disciplines. The Beachcup program provides for encounters such as the meeting between HC Vorpommern and the HC Vorpommern junior team. Other teams such as HSV Grimmen and SG Klotzsche will also deliver exciting duels. For the spectators, it will be about bringing the basketball feeling to the sand and rooting for the teams.
